Kempton Park is located on the eastrand of Gauteng and is situated on the outskirts of Johannesburg with approximately 26km northeast of the city center. It is one of the largest industrial centres in Africa as the industrial suburbs of Isando and Spartan that are within its boundaries.

The area lies on what was two farms in the South African Republic - Zuurfonteinno 369 and Rietfontein 32 IR. It was established in 1903 when Zuurfontein was subdivided into 216 residential stands. It was originally named Kempten after the German town in Bavaria and later re-named - Kempton Park.
