Alrode at a glance

Alrode is a thriving industrial node that is located in the south of Johannesburg. It was officially established in 1943 and is arguably one of the largest industrial areas in Gauteng. 

Due to the area's high demand a lot of development has taken place over the last decade with the area showing growth and an increasing reputation for being the place to take business to the next level.

It is located within Alberton City Centre and is only 25 min by car to Joburg CBD and 28 minutes away from O.R Tambo International Airport. 

There are 3 main stations within Alrode - Alrode station, Mpillisweni station and Natalspruit station with the railway running all the way to Johannesburg. There is also an inter-suburb bus facility in Alberton to transport workers to and from surrounding areas, as well as taxi bus services , making commuting for workers a breeze.

While Alrode isn't known as a shopping destination,  there are a handful of shopping centres and wholesale retailers in the area making it worth the visit. Some include Alberton City, Lemon Tree Shopping Centre, Tren Tyres, Prominent Paints, ARB Electrical wholesalers, National Clothing distributors and Midas. Another fast developing area at the doorstep of Alrode is Newmarket that has a new mall, Mall at Newmarket that houses some of the biggest names: Checkers Hyper, Food Lovers Market, Dis-Chem and Virgin Active this gives any business in Alrode the convenience that it needs.
